Questa è la mia cara Amica Monica Antonelli. Una persona che adoro, un’artista che ammiro!
La nostra bella amicizia è nata proprio con una mostra, lei con le sue opere, io con le mie foto (grazie un Prato di libri per questo regalo). Felice ed emozionata nel presentarvela:

Un’artista che arriva diretta, come un pugno nello stomaco, non chiede il permesso, arriva e basta e arriva il suo pensiero, la sua storia, tutto quello che l’ha consegnata a noi. Emozioni e messaggi.
Fin da giovanissima ha coltivato la passione per la pittura.
Prima il disegno, il segno, poi la pittura con i suoi colori ed infine un avvicinamento più “fisico” alla tela, un incessante bisogno di dipingere non piu’ con il pennello ma usando le mani, arrivando a graffiare la tela… questo bisogno fisico l’ha portata inevitabilmente, come fosse un destino, ad avvicinarsi alla scultura, ad avere un approccio mentale e fisico con la materia da plasmare, un richiamo primordiale, un tutt’uno con essa, una necessità quasi fisica, un profondo bisogno interiore che la porta a fare…l’arte per Monica è un bisogno: come respirare…
E’ un canto che sale da una ferita sanguinante o da labbra sorridenti, è malattia e terapia, ossessione e sfogo, è libertà, è gridare senza alzare la voce…

An artist who arrives directly, like a punch in the stomach, does not ask for permission, she just arrives and her thought, her story, everything that has delivered it to us arrives. Emotions and messages.
From a very young age she cultivated a passion for painting.
First the drawing, the sign, then the painting with its colors and finally a more “physical” approach to the canvas, an incessant need to paint no longer with the brush but using your hands, getting to scratch the canvas … this physical need inevitably led her, as if it were a destiny, to approach sculpture, to have a mental and physical approach with the material to be molded, a primordial call, one with it, an almost physical need, a deep inner need that the door to do … art for Monica is a need: how to breathe …
It is a song that rises from a bleeding wound or smiling lips, it is disease and therapy, obsession and outburst, it is freedom, it is shouting without raising your voice …

E’ per questa esigenza, che dal 2001 si avvicina alla scultura grazie al laboratorio tenuto dal maestro Marco Becattini, presso il Centro di Arte e Design di Calenzano (FI).
Presso il laboratorio, ha appreso le tecniche della modellazione, della successiva formatura con calchi in gesso, fibra di vetro, realizzando negli anni, sculture di cemento, gesso, terracotta, resina, cartapesta e bronzo.

It is for this need that since 2001 she has approached sculpture thanks to the workshop held by the master Marco Becattini, at the Center of Art and Design in Calenzano (FI).
At the laboratory, she learned the techniques of modeling, the subsequent forming with plaster casts, fiberglass, creating over the years, sculptures of cement, plaster, terracotta, resin, papier mache and bronze.

Nelle sue rappresentazioni è presente, laddove si parli di figurativo, il corpo femminile: forme spesso drammatiche e tormentate, con un linguaggio espressionista. Le figure presentano spesso“cicatrici” preziose, segni di un difficile vissuto che le ha temprate nel dolore; queste cicatrici vengono valorizzate dall’oro, come nell’antica tecnica del Kintsugi giapponese: è dalla ferita che nasce la luce.
In her representations, the female body is present, when we speak of figurative: often dramatic and tormented forms, with an expressionist language. The figures often present precious “scars”, signs of a difficult experience that has hardened them in pain; these scars are enhanced by gold, as in the ancient Japanese Kintsugi technique: light is born from the wound.

Dal 2016 l’avvicinamento anche al mondo della Ceramica a Montelupo Fiorentino.
E’guidata da una costante ricerca che la porta a sperimentare forme, materiali e mezzi, al punto che le realizzazioni in ceramica spesso diventano vere e proprie sculture, il confine diventa sottile.
From 2016 the approach also to the world of Ceramics in Montelupo Fiorentino.
It is guided by constant research that leads her to experiment with shapes, materials and means, to the point that ceramic creations often become real sculptures, the border becomes thin.

Altrettanto interessante è il suo percorso con opere informali e astratte: “i nodi” e i “tessuti”, la cui superficie “vulcanica” è frutto della sua costante ricerca e sperimentazione. Le loro forme, spigolose per i nodi, morbide per i tessuti, danno luogo ad una sorta di “travestimento”, sembrano una cosa che non è..
Equally interesting is her journey with informal and abstract works: “knots” and “fabrics”, whose “volcanic” surface is the result of her constant research and experimentation. Their shapes, angular for the knots, soft for the fabrics, give rise to a sort of “disguise”, they seem something that is not ..

Nel 2019 realizza “ForzAmore” opera monumentale in bronzo, di cui ne esiste anche una versione in cemento.
L’opera è stata esposta a Vinci (FI), in occasione del cinquecentenario di Leonardo Da Vinci, presso la Pieve di San Giovanni Battista a Sant’Ansano. Questa occasione l’ha vista protagonista per la sua nomina a “Cavaliere di Leonardo” per i suoi meriti artistici. “ForzAmore”è attualmente visitabile presso Art Gallery il Cesello di Pietrasanta; nella galleria sono presenti anche altre sue sculture in bronzo e diversi pezzi in ceramica.
In 2019 she created “ForzAmore” monumental work in bronze, of which there is also a concrete version.
The work was exhibited in Vinci (FI), on the occasion of Leonardo Da Vinci’s 500th anniversary, at the Pieve di San Giovanni Battista in Sant’Ansano. This occasion saw her protagonist for her appointment as “Leonardo’s Knight” for her artistic merits. “ForzAmore” can be visited at the Art Gallery in Cesello di Pietrasanta; in the gallery there are also other bronze sculptures and several ceramic pieces.

Nel Giugno 2019, le è stato conferito il Premio Ponte Vecchio.

Sempre a Giugno 2019 ha realizzato una mostra personale, patrocinata dal Comune di Prato, nella Sala Campolmi, presso il Museo del Tessuto, mostra che ha riscosso un interessante richiamo di pubblico e di critica.
Also in June 2019 she created a personal exhibition, sponsored by the Municipality of Prato, in the Campolmi Room, at the Textile Museum, an exhibition that has attracted an interesting public and critical appeal.

Recentemente ha realizzato una scultura in bronzo dal titolo “Le grida”, una sorta di totem, dove sbucano volti: ognuno con il proprio personalissimo dolore, in questa scultura l’artista ha voluto rappresentare il modo di vivere il dolore: c’è chi grida con la bocca (urlando) e c’è chi grida solo con gli occhi….la scultura non è passata inosservata agli addetti ai lavori, e presto ci saranno interessanti sviluppi.

Recently she created a bronze sculpture entitled “The cries”, a sort of totem, where faces emerge: each with her own personal pain, in this sculpture the artist wanted to represent the way of living the pain: there are those she shouts with her mouth (screaming) and there are those who cry only with her eyes …. the sculpture has not gone unnoticed by the experts, and soon there will be interesting developments.

Sempre recentemente è nato “Il mio Pinocchio”, altra scultura in bronzo, un Pinocchio capace di emozionare e renderci tutti un po’ Geppetto mentre lo guardiamo, una scultura che suscita tenerezza…anche Pinocchio porta in sé la “ferita, (da cui nasce la luce) perché in fondo, anche per lui, burattino/bambino la vita non è stata facile… attualmente sta lavorando per la sua realizzazione in versione monumentale.

Always recently was born “My Pinocchio”, another bronze sculpture, a Pinocchio able to excite and make us all a little Geppetto while we look at it, a sculpture that arouses tenderness … even Pinocchio carries within himself the “wound, (from which it is born the light) because after all, even for him, puppet / child life has not been easy … she is currently working on its realization in a monumental version.
